I need to build some type of stand to store my 30hp outboard (116lbs) for the winter. Can anyone recommend a good design? Thanks.

I use a 2 wheeled dolly, like a fridge dolly. It makes it very easy to move around and to move it to the boat when going fishing. You can get 1 at Can.Tire for about 40 bucks

do you have to alter it in any way? ive seen something similar and a guy had to add some stuff to secure the motor and clamp it down

I've used a plain old saw horse for my 40 horse (slanted legs with a cross beam).

I had one that I made out of an old discer blade, welded on a chunk of pipe with about a ft long piece of square tubing to form a T, lift her up, screw it on and slide it into the corner, worked good!

I didnt have to alter mine. The clamp just slips over the top bar and I dont have to tighten the clamps, the motor just sits on the bar.Depending on the balance of your motor, you may have to push the motor to the front of the dolly so it doesnt tip over backwards
