While I was in Ottawa this summer my Aunt gave me this reel. It was my Grandfather's reel.

So I brought it home and tried to find as much information on it that I could find. I've searched the net numerous times with nothing coming up on it.

My Uncles remember using it back in the 50's-60's. They remember fishing for brookies up in Mont Apica military base (North of Quebec City, Quebec).

Can you guys help me out??

Thanks!!

Oh I wont be getting rid of this one that's for sure.

I remember using that Reel when I was a kid up at the cottage. It was attached to a bamboo Rod.

When I got the Reel it was on the Rod but the second piece of the rod was missing....Oh well atleast the Reel was salvageable!!

I have it matched on a 3 wt rod. Leaving next Friday for a week on the Island. She's going to be great on the Pinks!!

If anybody can help me out with this that would be great!!

Not much information but it looks like it could be Austrian - but there's talk of the Anglers models being made in Japan and the UK as well...

Search google for "angler Scout 8-60", not the same reel but will get you started on the "angler" name.

This post on another forum:
I think the Angler Scout Series (8-50. 8-60, 8-80. 8-100 and 8-120)
was built in japan in the early sixties. The special fact by your reel is the second handle at the back of the reel. I havenīt see such model.
The firm DAM/germany imported and sold Angler Scout reels named 1105, 1106, 1108 and 1110.
Other reels from the firm Angler were Bonal 661 (first and second model), Jet 550, Golden Tiger and so on.
The Slogan from the firm was "Made by angler for anglers"
greeting Walter
