Shore fishing/camping near grande prairie

first off I would like to say hello I just stumbled upon this site and it looks like you guys are a great and helpful community.

Well we were supposed to be headed to slave lake to do some fishing for the long weekend. But apparently plans have changed and now we are headed 7 hours up to grande prairie but have never fished up there before and am looking for a lake or river that we can camp at as well as do some good shore fishing as we won't be taking the boat this weekend.

We arent too picky about what we fish but wouldn't mind getting a few keepers. Also what kind of bait/tackle would you recommend for fishing up there this time of year.

Highly recommend Two Lakes. It's about 2 hours south of GP on HWY 666. There are 2 lakes to actually fish. It's absolutely beautiful there and you can fish off shore for tastey Brookies. If you want to head further south from there you can fish the Kakwa Falls. But take a 4x4.
