Was at my favorite hole on the Bow this evening, heard the local beaver slapping its tail , and saw this critter coming up the riverbank towards us. We fish close to the beavers channel cut into the shoreline, and it was hunting beaver. I had a call with me, and was squeeking so it wasnt quite sure what to make of us, since we were sitting quietly and there was no wind. Got a little too close, less than 25 yards, so I gave a yell and chased it off.

I have had the pleasure of seeing a coyote try to take a full grown beaver , that yote was lucky to escape . At one point the beaver literally threw him to the ground with his front paws .

Those coyotes when young are goofy , I cannot believe how close you can get to them in a people place like fish creek

Excellent pics

Im surprised he came that close, around here they get shot on site. Usually if you stop to get a picture they all you see is a blur :)

Great pics Wayne - The only way to get shots of a yote like that on the prairies is a telephoto or luck (and a call in your pocket!)
