Hey I was looking for some insight on generators (inverter type) I was looking at the hondas and yamahas and was leaning towards the 2400 yamaha. Just curious what anyone knows about these and or if I should lokk at another brand?

I bought the Honda EU2000i earlier this year. It'll depend on what you want to run but if you have AC in your trailer you'll need to go to at least the 3000i. Another option if you need to bump up is 2 x 2000i with a parallel kit that will give you 4000 W to play with. They will both weigh less then a 3000 and be easier to handle.
With the 2000 we are able to run everything in our trailer (don't have AC) and our microwave is rated at 900 W. I'm really happy with it, and it is for sure my best purchase of 2007.
I also considered the Yamaha but ended up with a better price on the Honda. If you are able make sure you buy it in the USA. We made a trip to Great Falls, MT (checked with the dealer before we headed down and they set one aside for me) and even after the exchange and claiming it and paying GST we still saved around $500 to $600 over buying it locally. We wouldn't have saved as much on the Yamaha.

Nope

You can only do that with the 1000's

The yamaha 2400 inverter only weighs 32kg. It will run up to a 10,000 btu air conditioner. Noise rating of only 54-58 db and will run approx 5 hrs (full load) on a tank of gas. Get the one you need to run what you have.

Thanks for the help guys and lilsundnace the reason I was leaning more towards the 2400 yammy was due to the fact that it can run the air con. and the 2000 honda cant.

There is another brand someone spoke about some time ago they were made in japan I think and were cheaper and quieter than the hondas not a very popluar northamarican make if I recall ....anyone know what Im talking about?

I just purchased a Honda 2000 in Great Falls ........ 959.00 in August . The Honda 2000 purchased from the USA can be conected in parallel with one another ....... HOWEVER The Canadian version of the Honda 2000 generator CANNOT be. In speaking with my Local Honda Dealer in Alberta its got something to do with CSA approval in Canada ...... go figure.

The Honda 1000 sold in Canada can however be connected in Parallel
I went with 2 Honda 2000 purchased in the States and went parallel ... two smaller ones are much more convient to haul around than say the Honda 3000 model .

The retail price in Canada I believe is 1729.00 for the honda 2000 . In the USA i found them for 959.00 & 999.00

Great Units

The spin offs are the Kipor and Maritime. I have the Kipor 2000 and it works awesome... Ran it against a friends Honda and no one could tell the difference as to which one was running. I think Blackfoot is now stocking them.

I bought a Yamaha 2400 this summer. I love it. I bought in order to run small power tools as well as take it out with the holiday trailer.I need to be able to run the A>C and the coffee machine and microwave. I was realy considering the Honda 2000 but I wanted extra to run the above things. So far I am very happy with the Yamaha.
If you are in Edmonton check out the Freightliner shop on 50st just north of the whitemud, they are advertising a sale on the 2400.
Good luck.

I bought a Honda 2000 in the spring. On about 4 liters it will run my trailer with all the bells and whistles over 12 hours on a tank. I just got back from a week of hunting and had the furnace going at 18 0C all the time and it kept the batteries full. I didn't even use 20 liters. Great machine and efficient. Also as we all know not noisy either. Maybe willing to part with mine pm if interested.

looking at the yamy site there is a propane/gas, 2400. has anyone seen or used one? we used a kipor 3000 this past summer and loved it. i beleive it is the same as a honda, the only disadvantage would be the weight of both the honda and kipor as compare to 2x 2400. and yes going across the border to save 500$ is a good thing too.
