Ok, first I want to say that I've learned over the past few days that hunting antelope with a bow is really hard. In fact, up until today I thought it was impossible. After days of scouting, many tanks of gas, and countless kilometers of walking in rolling prarie, I was lucky enough to be in the right place in the right time. My brother and I set out this morning with high hopes of filling my tag, and after blown stalks and bucks not committing I was ready to shoot anything that was legal. The morning started with a small herd buck that decided to round up his does and get out of dodge instead of coming into the buck/doe combo to investigate. Shortly after, we put a stalk on a different herd. A small buck came in to 20 yards but didnt offer a shot, then another satilite buck came to 60 yards but wasnt convinced and was on his way. Finally got the herd buck to come investigate and I ranged him at 35 yards. By the time I got the release on my string and the bow up he was walking away. I estimated 45 yards and let an arrow fly. Turns out he was 55 yards and the arrow fell beneath him. As I watched him run away I laughed as I could literally hear my heart beat when I opened my mouth, what a rush. well a few hours and about 3 blown stalks later we spotted a buck on top of a small hill 150 yards from a road leading to a well site. As we drove by I got out of the truck and crawled to the bottom of a small rise while the truck continued on. As it turns out the buck was making his way down to the road and passed me at 31 yards. I drew and let an arrow fly. The arrow hit a few inches high and hit the spine dropping him on the spot, a quick second shot sealed the deal.

What a crazy hunt. I wanna thank everyone who helped me out this past year preparing for this hunt. Ptggetter, rackmastr, brownbear, ishootbambi, and of course my brother "clyde" for being the best good luck charm ever. Couldnt of done it without you guys.

Rough gross score of 72 1/2.

Congrats, nicely done. I've only been the decoy man so far on an archery hunt a few years back and it really is quite the rush.
