2010 Yukon Pics #3 (caribou)

Here are the pics from my last hunt of the year. It ended kinda short with me buggering my back but not before we harvested this great bull. We started the day riding an hour from camp to a high vantage point to over look a valley for moos and caribou. After glassing a bit I spotted 45 caribou about 5 miles up and across the valley. We liked 2 of the bulls so a stalk was planned. We had a tough time crossing the valley due to high creeks and lots of bog due to lots of rain. After some hectic moments in some bad places we made it to within a mile of the bou. we tied up at the last 4 trees on the mountain and headed up the hill on foot. After about an hour stalk we came over on the caribou at 250yrds. The second biggest bull was standing there offering a perfect broadside shot. We discussed it as we hadent located the big guy yet. The hunter decided to pass in hopes the big guy would show. We finaly saw his antler tipps to our left in a draw and he was feeding towards the other big bull. He walked out perfect and I wolf howled and he stoped and the hunter let fly. Four shots later we had this potential 400"+B/C bull on the ground.

Great looking country and thanks for taking the time to post up pictures & stories for all three hunts. Nicely done for for moose hunter. I have had a passion for a mountain caribou for quite some time and you have just fed the fire a bit more.

congrats that's a beauty! Ya don't see bulls like that in every herd. i've only seen one bull ever with a shovel like that, he had 2 of them and huge bes's. to bad his main beams were only thirty inch if that and he had no points on top at all. The only bad thing about big shovels like that is they get in the way a bit caping lol
