Finally got time to do some scouting. I found a field with a bunch of birds that were destroying the swaths. Talked to the landowner and he said "Get 'em outta there!"

Got together and met a fellow AO member for the first time and we smacked a limit of geese, 12 canadas, 6 big mature specs and 8 mallards. We were done early and were landing geese in the rig for almost an hour while waiting for more quackers.

We also had another group show up well after we were set up. We invited them to set up with us as there was only 3 of them but they opted to try another corner of the field. While they did stick to a corner they tried to scoop us and set up where the birds first came from the roost. The did some sky busting and ended up with 4.

Pics to follow.

Had an absolute blast. Fellow AO member is a great guy and didn't laugh a whole bunch at my shooting which was less than stellar. Thanks Darren.

First Class and Congrats!!! Good of you to make the invite tough on them for not knowing what a gift is when it's offered.

Lots of Specks and snows south east of Castor stopped to ask permission to bow hunt. Farmer says shoot Geese! I say did not have a gun he says I will give you my 10ga and shells just shoot them! I say for the first time since I can remember I have no Mag Bird licence yet:sign0161:

So few fields are swathed tht the guys that have fields down are just getting slammed so good to see you are out helping the land owners.

Congrats on the goose hunt Cowtown Guy.
Sounds like you had better luck than we did.
One thing though. You broke a very important rule! You forgot the pics... LOL.

I would check the regs before you post any pics of 18 dark geese, just in case you counted right! Limit is 8 dark geese per day per hunter, total for two hunters is 16 not 18. But, I am sure you meant to say 16.

I thought you were in your ground blind when you were holding the mallard and the speck you pants are invisable against the swath mind if I ask what make and pattern those are. Thanks for the pics.

I am well aware of the regs. Thanks. 10 honkers and 6 specks.

No prob. I figured you had added a couple without realizing it, the opposite of my golf score, usually, I take a couple off (of course without realizing I have done so.......honest)

Shadow grass. Decent for most waterfowl hunting scenarios.

Barley swaths. Lucky was able to drive right to the "X" as 1/2 the field was combined. The outside rows were picked up giving access to the rows the geese were using. First time I have ever shot a swathed field that I didn't have to haul gear in on foot.
