The Well Deserved Buck!

I had the opportunity this past week take advantage of Alberta's Hunter Host program for non residents and have my cousin from Phoenix Arizona come up for his first every archery hunt. We have been planning this for a long time and decided that Mule Deer would be the best species for him to hunt for his first trip. We hunted super hard for 4 days and had multiple opportunities at some impressive animals but could just not connect on one. Finally on the last day we caught this guy as he was making his way out to feed. We were able to get in front of him and Jed made an awesome shot at 30 yards and the buck dropped in his tracks! It was an awesome experience to be out hunting with him when he harvested his first animal with a bow. The smile on his face sums up how excited he was! He is truly amazed at the opportunities we have in Alberta! All around it was a great week spent outdoors!
