Has anyone seen Elk in WMU 350? We have been going there for years but haven't really hunted them. My hunting partner has a moose tag so I am just tagging along so I might try my hand at Elk.

I have lived in Slave Lake and have hunted in and around WMU 350 since i was 14 years old. I have seen elk tracks, but sightings are not common. There have been a few lucky hunters who have killed a few elk over the years, but its a tough area to find a elk. The majority of the sightings have been at the southern end of the WMU, mostly around the Athabasca River and the Swan Hills areas. I did see a spike elk this summer on highway 2 just 15 minutes west of Slave Lake, out by Widewater, which was very surprising. There are elk around, just very hard to find. Good luck!

Unless you are hunting on the river or the Swan Hills side of 350 you stand almost 0 chance of seeing or killing an elk..
Get a general mulie tag as there is a decent population and you better have a whitey tag...
More moose this year in 350 and if you get away from the roads you should be able to find a bull..
Good Luck..

Stay there. No elk in 523 or 360 :sHa_shakeshout:
One of the teachers in our school hit a cow elk 15 minutes or so out of Slave Lake on our end.

I had a run in with elk in 350 last week. Just a small bull and 2 cows but, they are there. We looked hard for them for 4 days untill we finally found them. Good luck!
AS mentioned before, Its probably a better Idea to focus on a WTD!
