Well me and the wife(The Iron Maiden) got out for a couple days of antelope hunting. We descided we didn't want to deal with the hundreds of vehicles on the roads so we set out on foot early on Monday. We didn't see much for big bucks but that was not the point of our mission. We wanted a great backpack hunt first, and trophy quality was second. My wife wants to get into doing the odd backpack hunt and I thought no better way to get her started than a successfull hunt on the prairies(Lack of bears).
We connected on this little buck mid afternoon on the first day. After a great mile or so stalk and a 150 yard shot, or maybe it was three, it was all over and the work began. Of course she got it easy and I took all the meat, but I didn't want to scare her off.
Well all in all in was a very fun and fullfilling hunt to say the least, with lots of miles on the boots, and great weather minus the wind. the big smile on her face was the highlight of my year.
PS: There is just something about a girl with a set of horns in her pack that just tops off a great hunt.
