2nd Elk Rut

Any opinions on when the 2nd elk rut might be in the GP area up north. I've heard 1st week of October, but isn't this a bit soon?

anywhere from right now...to the end of October, just keep and eye on the herds...and it doesnt hurt to go out locating on the full moon nights and do some calling.

Basically, it's the amount of daylight hours that make cows start to cycle. They don't all start at the exact same time, so any cows that are missed or didn't catch will start comming in every 21 days.

So... you can basically get rutting bulls at anytime until all the cows are bred, no strict dates.
