well today i loaded some bullets for my 300saum,loade 150grn remington core lockt over 65.5 grns reloader 17 , was just the ticket for my little 300saum chronographed them between 3289 and 3328 fps, wth a 5 clover leaf group at 1oo yards i,m thinking any game gets in my sights its game over:sHa_shakeshout:,i was loading the same remington core locked bullets ove 69 grns of H414 and was only getting 2967 ftps and 11/2groups at 100 yards, any one else use reloader 17 what are youre results????

Nice shooting, and blazing velocity. Sounds like you've got a good load, my only concern maybe a quartering or full frontal shot on a big animal. Will the corelokt hold together at that speed? At any rate, it's always nice when you find a load like that, congrats. Has it been hard finding RL-17 in stock?

I put some shells together yesterday for the 6.5-284.

Hard finding load recipes for that powder and this caliber so I started at 50 gr (i think, should really recheck my records??) RL 17 and Barnes 120 TTSX, 215GM's and Hornady brass. Probably shoot it on the weekend and establish a baseline. IMR 4350 maxs out in this load and rifle at 51.5 grs.

Supposed to be the best thing since sliced bread. Maybe just another gimmick... IMR 4350 worked just fine before... we'll see.

i dug some of the corelokt bullets outa the sand bank and had a look see how they performed every one that i found had perfect moshrooming going on so i brought them home washed all the sand out of them 3 of them weighed 120 grains and 4 of them weighed between 130 grains and 142 grains i,m thinking they will be good on a big game animal, years ago i shot a moose wth a 338 magnum and the only real shot i had was through a jackpine tree 10 inches in diamiter, and i pulled the bullet out of the moose on the far shoulder it had split the hide but didnt pass through, and that particular bullet was 220 grain when i loaded it, and was 178 grains after i pulled it outa the moose, and was a perfect mushroom, that was why i used the corelokt 150 grns in my 300saum, i,m sure they will do a good job, now just o find an animal that is :test:willing to co-operate wth a little testing, as for finding the the reloader 17 , its realy hard to find,i get it from a guy at the gun shows out here that handles it, as well he handles swiss 1 1/2 fg for my black powder cartride rifles so i always order a case of that when i can this year i,m gonna buy a case of reloader 17 as well

I just loaded up some 168 TTSX Barnes in my 300 WSM with the RL17. Great success as well.
I settled on 66.5 gr as the groups were .6 - .7 very consistently. I'm super happy with that powder and accuracy. 3210 FPS.

I loaded some 110gr ttsx for my X-bolt on 270 wsm and thought it did alright. Don't have a chrony so can't comment on speed. No one in Winnipeg had any so I bought all the store had in Brandon, should be good for a few years.
