In Carson Pegaus there are two lakes - which one is the trout lake? The bigger one to the south or the smaller one to the North East?

Is the bigger one often called "Carson lake" and that's what we are reading about on the forum? (the one with crayfish and trout that seems to be a good fishing lake).

Can you get boats launched in both? (I understand there is a 12km/hr limit).

What's the best bait/lure to use this time of year? (spin cast gear).

Yup, Carson is the larger lake to the West. It is also called McLeod Lake. It is stocked annually with tons of rainbows. The other smaller lake to the NE is Little McLeod. Its got Whitefish and pike. The launch is great at Carson and there is a speed limit. No problem launching a small boat at the smaller lake either. Any typical trout lure will produce there. Good Luck.

Fishing was very good at Carson (McLeod) yesterday. Nothing of any great size - but many nice eaters - 12"-16". Trout were willing participants of our fun fishing day.

The lake is not winterkilled (at least not recently) as at least three fish appeared to be wild (or over wintered stock) and not stocked fish based on thier color, fin etc... They were also much larger than the other ones which look like new stocked fish.

Little McLeod, the small lake (large pond really) as mentioned, does not allow motor boats and it would be tough getting anything larger that a 12ft aluminum in there without driving 30 feet into the water. It was, however, crystal clear and very picturesque. We will be back to fish that one sometime soon.

There are no natural population trout in Carson.

The lake has never winterkilled.

There are perch in Little McLeod but they aren't worth fishing for (size).

What’s the fishing like in little McLeod lake for pike and whitefish? Also any tips for getting whitefish in the summer? I haven’t caught one yet so pointers are appreciated. Gear or fly, doesn’t matter.
