Spent turkeyday weekend fishing and camping on the Vedder River. The weather turned out to be beter than the expected forcast. I got skunked the first two days, but did see some nice Springs pulled in. Now if you think the Bow River can get busy, you have to experiance Salmon fishing when the run is on.

I landed my first ever Salmon, a nice Wild Coho. What a great fight through the rapids.

I ended up hooking into 5 more fish and landed one of them. 10lbs harchery Coho.(KEEPER). This is when my camera finally died from a swim it and I took on day one of the trip. Here is the taste shots of it from home.

Good old Vedder, should try bait casting as a lefty, hard to time your cast when 6 people are within 20 feet of you.I lived there for 6 years, seen many good runs and use to walk that river right up to the honey hole, (hatchery).Tonnes of fun. Nice pictures, glad you had fun and landed a few lunkers.West coast rig will never let you down if you know how to fish it..

Hey you already started a thread so I figured Id just add :). Went to the vedder the same weekend and got skunked the first two days too lol. But finally on Sunday I started hooking chinook. I hooked into coho the last few days but wasnt able to land them. Awesome battles :)

The one pic of the river was the disappointing blow out from all the rain Saturday night. Surprisingly was the most successful fishing day.

fishergirlll, looks like those springs were in the river for some time, by the size of them I would say that they were whites but could be wrong. Did you land any chrome bullets or just those greasers

Nice Springs Fishergrrrl. Sorry to hear about your camp site flood. Did you take any pictures of it.....lol
We should have meet after the derby, the fish were hanging in one of our camp site. and we had the site with the concrete pad next to it. Maybe next year.

Hey ya those ones were whites. Tried a more silver one for dinner but didnt find it as tasty as the bright red meat. mmmm. upstream was mostly the greasers lol but thats the only day we had our cells to take picstures. and thanks! I think thats my biggest fish thus far :) :sHa_shakeshout:
and ya I was going to watch the derby awards but I was getting hits at a spot so just kept fishing. I was across the street from the weigh in station.
Theres talk about going back in the next couple months though. A steelhead run.. anyone know anything on that?

March is probably the best month to target the Vedder stellhead run but you can do well from February to April.
