Well, yesterday I decided to hit a spot on the river right near my place. I've only been out there a handful of times, and typically have good luck, but for some reason it's never become one of my regular spots. That might change.

It was still crazy windy when I showed up, but I was on the right side of the river so that the valley was kinda blocking the wind, and what wind there was, was at my back. As time passed the wind just got calmer and calmer until the water was like glass, and I had some nice quiet alone time. Then the fish came...3 walleye and I think 3 suckers in all :)

ghostguy6 came out and joined me around 8 and we fired up the lanterns and stuck around til a little before 10, but unfortunately he got there a little late and missed the bite.

Depending on how the day progresses for me, I may take another stab at this spot again, as I'm not one to argue with results

Stupid laptop is giving me problems...pics to follow :sign0176:

Awesome pictures Jay. I have a great love and respect for the NSR as it is one of my main spots inside the city. I also envy your spots by your home as you don't see the iron and steel in your pictures. People outside of the love for fishing always mock the NSR, but I give it a good rep just as I see you do. I always remind them that the NSR probably has the same amount of people pollution or maybe less than the Bow inside of Calgary. It's the natural mercury poison that people don't understand.

You may not see the iron and steel in my pics, but from where I was I can still see/hear the traffic. Don't need to take pics of that junk though :)

And truthfully, the NSR is a bit of a mess. Go fish upstream of the city a bit, like out by Devon, and then go check out the river a little downstream of the city and you'll see the difference. It's sad really. :(

I envy you guys who can almost walk to a walleye filled waters, and having big love for river fishing i envy you even more. I have to drive at least an hour before i reach the closest walleye spot(just like many others from calgary and area).

Awesome pics and catches, wish i could plan out a couple of days off to fish the area. Perhaps next season...

I've lived in Edmonton my entire life and have never fished the NSR. I just may have to change that!

Thanks for the pictures

It's a lot better than the first time we went out there and pulled a whole garbage bag of cans out of there...but on the bright side, I think those cans probably paid for a couple tubs of worms for me

Geezle what do you catch your walleye with?

Have you ever tried going after them with a 4"-5" grubs or paddle tail minnow or maybe with a big minnow stick like rapala f9-f13???

There is got to be big ones around where you're pulling all the smaller ones out(no pun intended, i know you can catch big ones too).

Wowza, I wish i had that in my end of the city,...

This ends completley trash... On saturday me and my friend walked to our spot, didnt even bother fishing.

We counted 36 beer cans, half a tent, a cooler, half a bike, hubcaps, and the rings that hold 6 packs of cans together all over. Just absolutely pathetic... I didnt bother tossing out a hook there because i was in disgust after tidying up...

Most of those I've caught on bait. I have been toying with the idea of flipping a big ol' jerk shad out there to see what happens though...might have to give it a shot :)

Geezle nice fish! I have to chuckle because if those were trout on the Bow you'd have a dozen guys telling you that you're harming the fish by laying them on the ground, etc. Keep at it hope you catch a monster.
