Hey guys. I just got these pics from a buddy of mine in NS who is currently fishing Tuna commercially. They have taken 11 fish so far, and are now out to fill their last tag. The big one in the pics weighed in at 800+ lbs (WITHOUT head or tail, so over 1000lbs live). The official weigh-in is without head/tail. I think the other one was 709, and they averaged over 400lbs on the rest of them. The prices are crappy this year (around $10/lb). A good year will see $18+/lb and the most I ever hear of was $62. Most of them get hauled to the boat and shot in the head with a shotgun slug. They are pound-for-pound, one of the strongest living things on the face of the Earth. Enjoy!

Wow those are big. They make my sailfish look like a minnow.
Is there any chance you could re-post bigger pics?
Thanks for sharing.

Rocky, next time I talk with him I'll see if he can re send them larger, that's how I got them too.

Actually the world record BFT came out of that area some years back. That one went somewhere over 1400lbs, and I THINK that it was on rod and reel.

Yeah Donny, big bucks for sure! If you can fill all of your tags (12) with decent sized fish. These guys also lobster fish, and tuna season is a nice bonus.

I caught a 42lb Yellowfin Tuna off the coast of Waikiki. It was the most incredible fight I ever had. It took 30+ minutes to get in. Truely an awesome experience.
