My wife and I went down to Mexico for a wedding which is not my ideal use of holiday time during hunting season but at least it was Cabo San Lucas which has some pretty good fishing. We got out for some deep sea action one day and caught a bunch of Dorado which were fun. We spotted one seemingly happy Striped Marlin about 50' off the port side of the boat but could not get him to eat anything. Later in the week I got out for a couple days of fly fishing on the Sea of Cortez side and had some fun.

This little Yellowfin Tuna was a blast to catch. He ate a Deceiver with a bit of Peacock on the back:

This is some type of Pompano I believe. If anyone knows for sure what it is please let me know. The Gummy Minow was his poison:

A friend and I got into a few small Rooster Fish. I would love to get a big one some day. Not a cooler looking fish in the sea in my opinion:

That second looking fish is pretty neat looking. I have to agree a big Rooster is on my list.

A 10 weight for the most part which was complete overkill but your never know what might eat you bug in the sea.

No. I love fishing but hunting is my my number one recreational priority. I would rather fly fish for Tarpon than hunt for alot of things but if I could only do one I would pick hunting. Thank God that is not the case!

Going there in January. Is there any shore fishing in that area? Particularly with a fly rod???
