Great White Whaler;
I have the 3hp Jiffy and have used it for 8 years.I used a mix of 24:1,but I found that it fouled the plug,blew smoke and was hard to start.
I switched to using Opti 2 oil on the recommendation of a mechanic,and I have not had any problems since switching over.
Motor starts in three pulls,even in minus 30 degree weather.With the Jiffy motor give them lots of gas to start.Press the primer bulb around 5 times.
Do not press it rapidly.Give the primer bulb time to fill up.
Tight lines

Yeah I don't want to be responsible for busting and auger here but I just bought it and I'm just telling you what it says in the instruction booklet it came with jiffy 2 stroke or equivalent with high octane gas at 40:1 maybe that has changed for newer models so take that how ever you want but if it actually says 24:1 on yours then that's what you do.
