The Rut right now question

Finally gonna get out this weekend. Working in Drayton Valley area, so I'm gonna take my gear with me and hunt sunday, maybe monday morning north of Drayton....

Is it rut prime-time for white tails right now?

What can I expect when the weather turns cold like this?

Movement any time of day?
What are you guys seeing?

Well, today - NOT A SINGLE DEER!!!!! :mad0030:
I sat for 6 hours on an AWESOME scrape line, rattling and grunting every 20 min or so - NOTHING! ( needless to say I'm a little frustrated right now )

But yeah, the rut is full blown on. Yesterday I saw 4 bucks all throughout the early / mid afternoon. They seem to be moving all day. My wife shot her buck on Tuesday at about 9:30 am and it was chasing a doe hard when we "intercepted" it!

Lots of bucks covering miles down here. Moving all day and night I'm sure. That time of the year where being at the right place at the right time is as close to a pattern as you'll get.

ya, thats what I figured, I'm gonna set up on the same stand I had success in september, and hopefully that works. ( as close to scouting as I can get with work).
I plan to rattle, doe bleat, and I dont have a grunt call, but I'm gonna get one...

I recall last year bucks were on the move when I saw them...whats best to "stop them" before shooting?

a loud call or whistle should stop them. I always use a sheep 'bbbaaahhhaaaa' with my voice ... works every time for every type of game animal.

Work Fricking delayed a couple of days, stuck here till Sunday, so Won;t be out to DV untill monday...gonna hunt moday late in the day, and tuesday morning.

I hear there is a "lull" in the rut right now? true?
Is it expected to go again soon?
What can I expect monday/tuesday?
