Finally on the ice (on big water!!!!!!!!) Was on Wabamun yesturday (sunday) with a buddy. About 200 yards out, 10 fow, 1.5-3 inches of ice on average!!!!!!!! Was kinda freaky the way it looked from shore though, up to like 40-50 yards out from shore it was normal looking white snow, then the rest of the lake was this grey looking snow. That part was ice, but with a skiff of snow. I guess that part froze after all the snow we got, but before the little skiff saturday night. Made it look like a cm of ice.
Had the tent and heater set up all day on like 3in of ice (honestly looked like 1inch just sitting there, had to keep measuring), by the time we woke up from our lil nap just before dark the ice was like an inch and a half with like 2 inches of water on top. We literally melted away half of the ice we were on because of the heater. That coulda got scary lol. Had a few guys drive up to the lake, sit there for a minute then leave. All probably mumbling the words "**** that!" then calling us crazy :bad_boys_20:
Too bad they didn't fish because the fish were biting!! Buddy got 5-6 pike with one going 14, i got 4 pike but got the biggest at 16 pounds on the button. Also caught lotsssss of whitefish. Lost track of how many, they were so aggressive. Everything released of course, but it sure was fun!!! Haven't seen any of these walleye that were released on there?
So November 21st, Wabamun lake icefishing with full gear, fish all over, LOVE IT.
