Was thinking of trying there this coming weekend...not sure how the ice is up there since its a bit of a drive from here. Does anyone know what it is like? or is it even worth the trip right now?

It's gotta be frozen, but whether it's safe is doubtful.

its prob just starting to ice up good that lake is usually good to go mid dec it gets alot of strong wind and its a very deep lake so it takes longer then most to freeze up also i wouldent walk on unless its at least 6" even though 4" is safe the ice shifts alot on that lake so it opens up a lot of weak spots first ice

I usually head there about first week of Dec if im lucky, tends to fish well towards the end of the month and a bit in early January. Yep the guys at Wapiti will know.

just talked to wapiti sports. they said it started to freeze up by the dam but it has not frozen over completely yet. They said there has been no wind over the weekend (which one would think is perfect for that lake to freeze given the fridgid tempts we've had the last little while) but he said it has also been snowing constantly up there which probably didnt play in our favor. they said probably another 2 weeks weather pending
