I will be up in the Edmonton area this weekend and I'm just wondering if anyone knows if the ice at Wabaman is ready yet.
Also is the plant shut down now? Any open water spots for a boat or do the other two plants use cooling ponds?

Any info would be great!!

Thanks

I have not been out yet this year - still waiting for good ice. :scared0015:

Yes the plant is shut down - a few months ago - so no warm water near the town. The plant on the south side has a cooling pond but does not dump into the lake so it is frozen there like the rest of the lake.

Not much help but it is all I got

talked to my boss who has a cabin out there.

last weekend the ice was still only about 1 - 2" thick on most of the lake and about 4 - 5" at shore.

with this cold weather, more ice should of formed, but for me personally i would not venture out for at least another couple of weeks till it is at least 8" thick or more. you have to be out at least 100yds from shore to hit the drop off so i like my ice thick so there is no chance of becoming a statistic for the year.
