Cabelas hands down, especially with the $ at par, WAY cheaper and delivered right to my door, NEVER had any problems from fish finders and rods to camping supplies.Blows Bass Pro Shops, (Calgary) prices right out the water.

I buy most of mine from WSS. Staff are sorta hit or miss.

I have enjoyed buying from specialized fly shops and you do get the expertise. Just that they often don't have a large selection of "doo-dads". Rods and reels, yeah. I buy those there, but....

The Fishin' Hole is my favorite mainly because of the staff. They are always willing to help you if you need it.

South Side Fishin Hole
Staff there knows their stuff and are nice to talk to.

Had a bad experience with a staff member last year at SS Wholesale Sports and kinda turned me off.

If it comes to ordering online I've only used BPS and can't say anything good or bad about cabelas

so a knowlegable staff makes no difference?

Nope...I have met so many people and fished with them from this and other forums that share info...So if I going to a buy tackle I know what I want...I can honestly say that I have never had bad service from any of the sport fishing stores in Calgary (WSS, BPS, TFH and the store that I miss Russell’s R.I.P.)…

Has anyone been to that new fly shop in Heritage Pointe, between Okotoks and Calgary? Would be handy for me, or anyone fishing the Bow south of Calgary (Policeman's flats, 22x bridge, etc.)

Yup Fishin Hole for me also, no other store compares for customer service! Have had at least a couple bad experiences at every other outdoor store but in the 10+ years I've been to TFH, not ONE bad experience. The only time I grudgingly go to BP or Wholesale is if I need something TFH doesn't have which is not very often luckily :sHa_shakeshout:

The deals that cabelas has are sometimes good enough to outweigh the shipping time. Last year i got a quantum reel, wss and fishin hole had them for 170, i paid $100 shipped with taxes and everything. For most things i just go with whats more convenient, had bad experiences with all the stores except southside fishing hole but its a pain to get to so i've barely ever been. Knowledge of the staff doesnt really make that much of a difference to me personally.
