Any reports on Carson. How's the ice, is the snow too deep to drive on lake, how's the fishing. Thanks in advance for any info.

Southside Edmonton store said had it rated as the only lake with a good rating. All others were s-f or f-g.

Was out yesterday and caught limit easy... The best results were with green sparkly power bait. Action best in morning but steady all day.

... after getting my butt kicked at a few differnt lakes the last few days, I think I'll fish Carson next time out unless I start hearing that the perch have turned on somewhere (out of Edmonton). Carson is almost a sure thing. I always take people that are brand new to ice fishing to Carson because I can basically guarentee fish. That being said I always feel like a never really accomplished anything :) by shooting fish in the Carson barrel (kind of like fishing for minnows at Hasse)

I basically fish them the same as perch except I never use minnows or minnow lures. Powerbait works but it is expensive. Use small pieces of shrimp from the grocery store for a few dollars and fish 6" off bottom. If you don't get a bite in 10 minutes - move. You'll find them and catch fish all day.

I havent fished Carson for about ten years, are people still fishing out from the wood pier that runs along the shore. I know we always did good when we fished along that shore. I want to go back there too this year with some newbie fishermen and our kids.

I taking the family up there on Friday and was wondering if the water was clear enough to see the fish coming in or are they too deep? Is anyone driving on yet? How deep were you fishing?

We were fishing in about 20 ft. of water Had a few hit in about 5-6 ft under the ice. There was at least 12in. of solid ice, had a 1 ton dually drive by us.

The water was fairly clear, but after about 8 ft I was not able to see my hook.

I don't know about that, but EVERY body of water is DEAD after you visit it. Or is that just how it appears?
