lol. yup. still waitin to get mine into action. from what i hear, they work fantastic. they take some fine tuning to get them set up. nicemustang had a thread showing how to properly set it up

hahhahhahaaahha....your mean and hurtfull .....
im guessing with the torque on this precious little contraption...fishing in 6 feet of water it will hook and fire them fish 10 feet in the air.
i'll just wait in my wheel chair next to the hole for a walleye to lawn dart into my awaiting fry pan.

i got one of these for x-mas as well.
tried it at pine but nothing hit it hard enough to trip it.
my question is how solid is it after the fish hits?
wondering if i should drill a hole in the body & put
an ice screw in it in case a big pike hammers it.
nicemustang would probably be able to answer that for me.
thanks in advance.

LOL. Hey chub, I met your son last night at the fishing hole. A nice guy, we BS'd for a while, hell of a guy. I didn't give him the idea for the automatic fisherman though, so don't blame me!

To answer the questions...you've got it setup right. You can adjust the tension on how it trips with adjusting the peg angle where the end eyelet goes. It will take some trial and error to get it set. For walleye, I like to take away the bobber that is in the middle and replace it with a floating bobber with 6" of slack line. Seems to work better that way. The eye has to hit and take it away for it to trip. For pike, trout, burbs, etc, this thing works like a hot damn. Shouldn't need to be concerned about it going down the hole if you have the stand spread out and some snow packed around it. I've had a 14 lb pike on it before and it was fine. Set your drag pretty light so it can take some line, i've never had the rod come out of the holder. Also, need to use mono, something strecthy, so that you don't pull the hook right out of the mouth.

This thing works like a charm, exactly like a tip up, but with a real good hookset. I have mine set up with a light rod to keep from ripping the hook out of a fish.
