Fished Clear lake today because our plans to head to Travers were foiled by a 3 foot snow drift over the 529 about 10km west of Champion.

4 people fishing, no bites, no fish.

This year has been tough for fishing, except for first ice - it has been very poor since the lunar eclipse on the 21st of Dec.

:angry3: Mantracker's thread 2 or 3 yrs ago...Best southern AB pike lake thread.....18 replies and like 4400 views...:sEm_oops2:

Plus a few other contributing factors of close proximity to Calg, Lunker taken as biggest pike a yr or two ago, etc....:kap:

Was terrible fishing last yr and we won't even be trying it this yr

Here's the thing. If YOU want to go out and FISH in a LAKE that is about as deep as your arm span, drill a hole, die from the gas that comes up, and not catch ANYTHING, then GO RIGHT FRICKIN' ahead. People have warned you not to waste your fuel.

I don't think it was overfished, but it is dead now. Clear had a lot of undesized (and really good size) pike in it 2 years ago - this summer we went there 2 times. My son got 1 pike (with stomach full of pink smelt from Canadian tire, from somebody before us I guess) and it was the only bite we had. Must be a winterkill, or something, but not overfishing, as smaller pike is gone too
