Hello,
I want to take my little guy out ice fishing and was wondering if anyone has had any luck with perch 2 hours or less North of Edmonton.

Thanks

Long lake has some fairly nice perch if they are biteing. Up to 11" Mostly catch 8 to 10"

The bucket brigade put a bunch in Morinville Reservoir and ruined a great trout lake. I haven't been there this year but last year I was pulling out little perch one after another. There are still trout in there so if you can keep the perch off of your line you have a chance at catching a nice one for supper.

I just noticed that you're in Carbondale. I don't know about perch but Cardiff would be nice for trout fishing as well.

The perch in Long get much larger than 11" (if we are talking about Long Lake south of Boyle), however they can be very difficult to locate and even more difficult to catch

Not much, and easy to catch. If you want larger go to N. Buck. Have caught 14" in there. Long is only about 1 1/2 hrs tho, from ED. I always go to N.Buck early and if they are not biteing good there I stop at long on the way back and get a meals worth.

One a year. LOL Like saying there are realy big whites in Hanmore, cause thats where the alberta record came from. Many years ago.
I only post what a person would catch on a daily basis and not what they would catch, one in a year.
If your gonna say long has up to 15" perch then I would say, N.Buck has up to 17" cause I know there are a few in there, But very few. I'm sure long has a few up to 15" but let get realistic, not very many.

I have got numerous perch in Long to 14 inches and have actually caught more really larger perch (13 inch plus) in Long rather than North Buck, just depends on time of year. Overall, N. Buck is probably a better Perch fishery but for shear size, Long has some piggies.

post what you like... but they arent a rare thing. They are just very hard to catch... hence the reason they are so big. meh Talk to any Long Lake hardcore angler. Realistic? heh

Its neat to see a pike at the hole, come into "secret bait" only to be scared away by 3 or 4 perch that swim in to take their turn at it. Nice to see a mark on your flasher like a keeper legal pike, onto to see it be a big fat long perch

Speaking of N. Buck..... they have a nice population of whitefish in there.

Halfmoon Lake near Vimy is close to the city at least. Lots of small perch and small pike but should be fun for kids.

I thought 16.25 inches was the Alberta record. You should of registered that 17.5 incher. You would of been famous on AOF.
