Hello Anglers,

Here's the scoop. Headin out with a buddy and the wives :love0025: for a weekend of fishin. Have a 12' foot trailer converted to an ice shanty. Have a 1ton truck with chains if necessary, but not so interested in chaining up. From the posts I have been reading, snow Red Deer north very deep and causing alot of headaches!! Not the best scenario with two ladies!! So south of Red Deer, maybe west to be safe. I am a northern fisherman, not so familiar with central/south lakes. At the same time, not interested in travelling hundreds of miles. So............ where to go, where to go?? Oh yeah, catchin a few fish wouldn't hurt. :) Burntstick? Sylvan?

I was at Burntstick on the weekend. There's a fair bit of snow but people have made tracks all over and there were lots of trucks out and some were pulling trailers. There is a good 12" of ice so you should be able to get around in 4x4 without the chains, but I would bring them just in case. We stopped at the gravel pit just south from the lake and got stuck, without chains of course. I haven't had much luck there this year myself but that isn't saying much as I know lot's of people who are catching lot's of Perch, Pike and the odd Walleye. I'll be out there this weekend myself so if you see a big white dog stop by and say hello. Happy Fishin'!

Was on Burntstick Monday, no trouble with the snow, maybe 6/7 inches and no flood water. Fishing was good for perch, didn't see any pike or walleye.

I'll be up there on Saturday with the Missus. If you see a burgandy Jeep Country and a black Ice Cube drop by and say hello.
