Going on the first rifle hunt in Dec. (3,4,& 5).
What I need to know is what is required for red clothing?
I have a Blaze Orange bird game "VEST" with a little brown on the shoulder
patch and a Blaze Orange c/w camo mix for a ball cap. If things turn crappy
I have a wool cap that is a complete mix of camo and blaze orange.
Is it like some of the states were you need so many square inches (cm's) covered or do you need the complete long sleve jacket? If this info. is in the reg.'s then I must have missed it. I hope I don't have to go out a buy a new blaze orange jacket that I will only use the one time (or when I get drawn again).

Not sure what the exact requirments are, but I wore a vest just like you described when I hunted on the base a couple years ago and had no issues.

I guess I better call and make sure as I don't want to delay the start of the hunt by going to the new Wal-Mart to pick up hunting clothes. If anyone else knows, don't be affraid to post your comments !

Ruff, this is directly from the draw booklet....

5. All hunters(except bowhunters hunting in the designated "BOW ONLY" area) must wear blaze orange or solid red outer wear.

A vest has been sufficient in the past...plus a hat but it wouldn't hurt to check. Some of the rules are at the whim of the military.

I live in Wainwright and have hunted on the Camp quite a bit. How much red/orange that is required is often open to interpretation of the Range Control staff that day. I remember being turned away once because my blaze orange vest had some black camo on it but yet it was more visible than other guys old, faded, red down-filled jackets. So, I went and spent $20 on a blaze fleece and wear it over everything. However, for the last few years it seems more common sense has applied and the Base seems happy with "reasonable" orange/red. Calling is a good idea.

Cheers
