Apparently ice fishing is allowed, and i thought i might try it.
Any hints?

My hint would be not to fish there. The odds of catching something are not that high.

X2, It was a fun place to fish years ago but I understand once you've caught 2 fish outta there, you've in fact only caught one-twice.

I got suckered into fishing their once 2 seasons ago & ended up with lots of casting practice, that's it! I ran into a group of about 4 young guys who were trying that day as well & they hadn't had a hit or seen a fin either. Also tried ice fishing there that same winter with the same success (or lack of). I suspect that several years ago either a few fish were put in there or else high river levels washed a few pike in there & they lived long enough to make people believe there was a decent population of fish living in the ponds.

I caught a little hammer handle there in the summer. and seen a few perch, but I dont think I would waste my time in the winter.
Summer is nice because there is lots of room to practice with a fly rod

I have only been fishing in Carburn Park once, on a hot sunny sunday afternoon. Fished it for about 4 hrs in total and landed 1 small pike on a red devil.

Funny... I go there for some hard water from time to time. I like that its close and can just head out for a few hrs anyday. I allways get a few pike and some perch out of there. Nothing of size but manage a few fish.

We toss the pike back but these 2 were not going to make it as they were hooked deep.

Orv, check this guys thread history.

The guy knows full well that the third pond was washed out and is now part of the river.
