Fished south end of Coal today, punched quite a few holes, found 3-4 inches of snow, then 2-3 inches of surface ice, 2-3 inches of water, then 16+ inches of solid ice. I walked quite a ways out from the south boat launch, probably nearly a kilometer, and still the deepest I found was about 4-5 FOW under around 2 feet of ice.
Just a heads up, there is no chance of getting even the best 4x4 truck in or out of that place if you ask me. no problem for a sled or quad though.
Fishing was good, except they were all in the 1.5-2.5lb range (all pike), but a lot of action.
