crawling valley ice conditions

I was thinking of heading out to crawling this wekend and was wondering what the ice was like, lots of slush or snow on the lake thickness? thanks

Thickness will not be an issue, it's at least 3 feet thick now. The amount of snow on top will be an issue depending on how far off the beaten track you want to go.

Last weekend was just doable if you stayed in the tracks or paid attention to how deep the snow was as it really varied across the lake. There's some spots with slush, but for the most part it's all hard ice.
