But I'm getting closer!

Got a late start to the day and met up with a couple other forum members on Wab yesterday. I showed up around noon and got a couple decent pike within a short period of time, and then it really slowed down for the afternoon. Pikehunter1989 and I ended the day with a double header that was quite the adventure as well. Overall a pretty good day out there :)

So here's my big one of the day. The others hadn't come over to where I was fishing yet, so I had to settle for just a quick pic on the ground with the shovel for size reference.

But what I really want is the fish that tried to take a bite out of this guy! Poor bugger, this wound was still kinda bloody and in the process of healing.

I hope so bud!

And just for the record, there's enough ice now that if you have to go shoulder deep to try to turn a fish, unless you've got yeti arms it's probably not going to work! And that water's cold!! :sHa_sarcasticlol:

Maybe...that was a pretty good sized wound on a decent sized (8ish lb) fish!

Nice one Jay. Must be a river monster that took a bite out of your fish.

Nice work boys!! Those pike are ruthless hey? You have to wonder what size of pike decided on trying to make an 8lbrr a meal.

It seems like you get the big one when you least expect it. The action slows down a bit, you're wondering what happened and then bang! Sometimes when things just die suddenly, it's because the smaller fish don't want to end up scarred or worse like your 8 lber so they evacuate the area when there's a predator near.
