Anyone give these a shot yet? On occasion I'll take my 10/22 out for some rabbits. Lead free could mean a better hunting round when you intend to eat the rabbits.

cci stingers are also lead free and they work great

also 22lr ammo typically doesn't expand very well or fragment so i wouldn't be worried about eating lead especially not round nose stuff...

Round nose 22lr rounds typically do not expand or fragment. Hollow points are designed to expand rapidly which can lead to fragmentation.

Round nose's and you will be fine.

I used to use CCI Stingers for rabbit but they were making a terrible mess of the things. Unless I got a head shot off there wasn't much left for eating.

Generally I stick to bow but the 10/22 can be a ton of fun.

A big plus for lead free .22 ammo will be for indoor ranges.

Presently the lead levels in the air make it difficult to have indoor ranges without some pretty elaborate and costly ventilation systems.

But what if the rabbit has bubonic plague?

See my post on that one.

Yeah, I hear that can make you sick... :scared0015:

Well, I've been eating rabbit since I was a kid at least once a year, sometimes five or six. No problems yet! (knock on wood) Hopefully the plague isn't that common here.

9-13$ for a pack of 50? For that price I may as well shoot my 223. Hopfully the price comes way down in the future.

Hunting rabbit with a .223? lol .22LR is bad enough, imagine the damage from a .223!

last time I was at Bass pro they had zero .22 ammo of any kind , just a heads up for anyone going there expecting stock on shelves

Wow, I was there about three weeks ago and they had tons! Maybe there's a pre-spring run on it for gopher season.

this was last year after the spring rush I guess , I haven't been back since . On a side note every rabbit I took last year was shot with a hollow point american eagle with minimal meat damage . I probably ingest more lead handling fishing stuff than any wild meat I eat :)

Yeah, I'm sure it's not a big deal but it's something I would feel better doing. The same reason I don't smoke even though my great-grandfather lived to be 93 smoking three packs a day and eating duck and geese riddled with bird shot.
