its true, just fish around everyone else. i always set up 50 yards on the deeper side of everyone. You need a 4X4 to drive out. Drive on from the provincial park and find a group of trucks, keep moving around to find fish. fish 100-170 feet of water right on bottom.

My understanding of ice fishing is that the first ten feet will hold the most oxygen, six ft being the best, as it gets deeper the less oxygen it holds
Or is lakers diff from other trout? And stay deep when the water is hard
R they not eating other fish that needs the oxygen close to the top. Would be warmer closer to the top too. Never iced for lakers but would think it wouldnt be different.... I don't know ! just started ice fishing last yr,
If someone wants to shed some light
The lakers are deep in the summer
But u can catch them from the dock when the ice is just coming off
(@ cold lake ). Again I don't know just what I hear I only fish cold lake when working in the area, so much nicer to go west!
