Well Me and Guitarplayingfish hit up the lees lake derby today. I brought along my dad and another buddy and He brought his buddy.

We took 1st and 2nd place and took home 3 raffle prizes also.

Total prize money taken home was $1250 between us.

I am pretty pumped right now that it went down the way it did.

Biggest fish was a whopping 33cm. Eric (guitarplayingfish) ended up with a 31cm as his biggest while I had a 29cm as my biggest.

We were trying minnows for the big gurls that lurk around in there but I guess they weren't feeling like feeding today. Out of 200 people fishing not a single person hook a brood stock.

Anyways I just wanted to say congrats to Eric full pulling out the victory today.

Ya fish hunter it is just a fun tourney held by the crowsnest pass lions club every family day. It is at stocked trout ponds. Last few years it was at beaver mines but this year they moved it to lees lake. Alot of people seemed to be having fun and the weather wasn't all that bad. The wind picked up every once and awhile but there was plenty of fish for everyone to catch a few even if they were little.

First to the right of us and 2nd to left, and I could barely land a fish, started out with lots of bites but faded as the day went on. Good job guys. :)

Just for the record 3rd place was Lethbridge too :sHa_shakeshout: Great work on the 1st and 2nd guys! Still surprised no one was able to hook one of those big ones that I know are in there.
It was my first derby, and man what a great time! I will be going back again next year for sure!

Wow its good to hear that the lethbridge crew ended up sweeping the podium.

Congrats to you fisherwoman.

I am pretty sure me and Eric will be back next year to try and repeat. I am just wondering if they are going to hold it at beaver mines or lees lake.

We will definitely be defending our title next year. Was a good time, good job Leth for taking the win. That was the first derby I've fished since i was like 12 years old.. Turned out pretty good I must say.

Lol and i was the one with the whooping 33cm trout. Took home enough winnings to pay for the day, and i do live close to Lethbridge. It was a blast as usual. Congrats to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners

I Had me and some buddies and the kids out there....

we were in a real real bad spot, so all we caught were dinkers.

We won it 2 years ago on Beaver mines... I kindof hope they put the tourney back there, usually nicer fish. I wonder why they didn;t do Beauvais? There's some nice browns in there that'd make it interesting.

That wind sucked! I don;t usually get cold, but I was good and chilled at the end of that day!

hope you guys come out next year.

Yeah, I was out fairly early (or so I thought) an there was already a ton of vehicles and tents up. Had to be super early to get the spot you want I guess. I was curious about that too, I think Beavauis would have made for an interesting tourney... probably woulda seen 1 brown anyway, and there are some big ones in there... extemely hard to catch though. bigger average size bows too

always got dinkers...

I have friends that get some good browns.. I'm not so lucky.

The action would be fun for the kids. My kids were the ones with the yappy dog sledding by the parking lot... havin fun in spite of the weather.

someone should run a summer tourney.
