I just bought a Remington mod 7 cdl in the 7mm08.The rifle has less than a box through it. Its my first Remington rifle. What do you think about the rifle and the 7mm08. MIKE

I think you bought a fine rifle in a decent cartridge that will provide years of service for any critter walking in Alberta. Congrats.

Pretty much an all around rifle , for sure!
You won't be disappointed in the cartridge ....

I usually like to recommend the Ruger #1 in .458 Lott for a first rifle.....but since you settled for a Remington in 7-08mm, I guess you'll just have to make do with it.

:)

OK, nice rifle and a great cartridge. I have one in a 700 Boone & Crockett, and it is a great all-rounder.

Thanks for your reply's. Its not my first rifle, it's my first Remington Rifle.
Always bought Winchester mod 70s ,Browning s, and Rugers. It came with Leopold mounts, rings and Leopold 3x9 . Was told rifle had less than a box
fired out of it. I just hope it shoots as nice as it looks.the rifle looks mint.
I'll be trying 140 grainloads, as I mostly hunt deer.

I had a friend that owned one of the first Remington Model 7's in 7MM-08, with 140gr Nosler Partitions he shot dear and moose with no problems. The 7MM-08 is on my to get list.

I know a fairly big man who has his own company and is not hurting for money. He has hunted for many years. He shot a really big bull moose a few years back and I went to his office to see it and visit. I asked him what he shot it with, "Rem. M7 in 7mm-08".

He explained that he had a large gun safe full of all sorts of rifles in different cartridges. But since he had picked up the Rem. M7 it was all he had been hunting with.

Mild recoil, accurate to distance, plenty of killing power. The same reasons we so often recommend this outfit for a woman or kid are the reasons this big veteran hunter uses it.

you can belive him when he says this...:)

I have a friend who has shot two moose with a 20" Model Seven in 7-08 with a 145 Speer......I've owned quite a few M7's...great little rifle and the 7-08 is a very good cartridge. I have the reamers for both the 7-08 and the 7-08 Ackley,..I've chambered a few of each.

I took one moose myself with my Model 7FS in 7mm-08, using the 140gr Nosler Solid Base. I was shooting 250 yards across the Wildhay river, and after four shots, the moose finally collapsed. All four shots were into the lungs, but like a lot of moose, they sometimes don't drop right away. By the way, I don't recommend wading across the Wildhay, the first week of November, as it wasn't very comfortable.
