hi ive recently bought a sako 222 75 varmint for fox controll and target shooting, ive bought all the loading gear required as they tell me you can really inprove your accuracy?but this isnt in my case :( ive been loading vihtavuori n135 at dif loads with 50 grain hornady v max and not getting that tight grouping that i think this rifle should be producing???ive tryed reloader 10 with no better outcome?i can achive 1 inch grouping with my 22magnum anshutz but its more like 2inch with my sako
:angry3:

if anyone has any loads or tips on how to improve my accuracy it would be much appreciated

Clean the barrel I don't mean make it shiny I mean get all copper out .
Use some thing like Bore Tech Eliminator ,SharpShoot-R Wipe-Out or if you very careful use Sweet's 7.62 Bore Cleaner.
Then try IMR 4198 or H322. My .222 does not like hot loads I get the best results with velocity around 3000 f/s .

The best groups I've shot with my Sako Vixen .222 have been with 50 gr Hornady SPSX and BL-C(2) powder. It sounds like maybe it's not your load that is the problem.... a Sako .222 should be capable of much better than 2" groups. I agree that maybe your barrel is badly fouled, or perhaps your rifle has a bedding problem.

Get your self some Reloder 7 and some 40gr vmax bullets load em to factory length right around 21 gr and watch em all go into one hole. I have 4 222 rifles and this load is dynamite in all of them. FS

What I mean by "hot loads" is loading to maximum powder charge.

Also try seating bullets to a different depth some rifles like bullets closer to the rifling .
When developing a load for your rifle work with one change at the time ,what I mean if you working with powder weight leave seating depth alone , if you working with seating depth use only one powder weight .

I will be willing to bet that rifle will shoot tight groups unless there are other issues with that rifle , some times it is as simple as loose stock screws , some times scope rings or bases loose , other times stock forend touching barrel ,in rare occasions is the scope (internal problems we cannot tell ).

Good luck at the range .

Hornady Manual shows 21.2 grains RL 7 as max and COL for this load is 2.130". We used 21.0 grains in once fired 223 Lake City brass that was FL sized to 222 which holds about 0.2 grains more powder than Winchester 222 brass. Remington 222 brass will hold about 0.8 grains more powder so may not work as well.

Here is how it shot in my Sako 75 VLSS.
