With spring closures approaching on many Alberta waters and last ice nearing in the next coming months on the others. Where is everyones favorite place to be and what species do you like to target at the end of the hard water season?

Old marble eyes the last days of March on a trip to the narrows at LSL for me.

I don't have a specific favorite late season lake, though my favorite species to target is perch then walleye.

The quest for big fat perch never ends until the season closes or the ice is off. So ya I am pretty sure I will be on the hunt for them a few more times before the end of the season.

Try Lac La Nonne for Burbot. Last spring we were there 3
times in march and it was crazy. The Fisherys guys had
a burbot study going there and they were trapping over
300 a day in some kind of net set up.
Take 651 Past Busby... turn left at RR30 and drive
straight out on the lake off the boat launch.
you will see tracks heading off to a kind of weed island
and a couple of bays to your left. Aany place there is good.

We actually had trouble getting off the lake last year
due to the mud at the launch after the sun came out.

not gonna make it up there von. i know of a couple groups that will be there next week-end if you wanted to hook up with them. if you're into traveling 6hrs in the other direction look me up. lots of fresh sausage i'd be happy to burn up for you and the boys on the ice.

I remembered a couple I still like to fish. Beaver lake, because it first opens april 1. And Spray. A tough trek to the dam but worth it in the past.

Yup. But last ice is the best and earl ice off, is the easiest access to fishing.

gotta say i may have a few new favs after this season. slave is a long haul from down south, and after last nights fish @ mac being comparable to a good evening up there only an hour from the house is pretty appealing. next year will have to hook up with boys somewhere where i guy can throw a couple in the pan.
