varget is an excellent powder.

h380 was actually named after the 22-250 after the owner of hodgdon found that that powder was very well matched with 55gr bullet and a 38.0gr charge.

actually named after a load for a 52gr load but 40 gr of H380 works great in my rifle with 55gr nosler ballistic tips.

After trying thousands of 22-250 loads, I still haven't found one better than 40.0grs of H380 and a 55gr Nosler Balsitic Tip.

darn even when i was typing it i was thinking "was it 52 or 55?.. 55 is more common"

hahaha well anyway it was named after the cartridge because it works so well

ive tried a few different load when i was developing loads finally i found that 38gr of h380 behind a 52gr speer varmint hp is deadly accurate, can manage 4shots under a dime at 100yrds thats out of my savage model 12 with 1:12 twist

My best load in my Rem 700 with a 26 inch barrel is 36.5gr of Varget with either a 50gr V-Max or a 52gr A-Max, COL 2.50. Have shot 1.5 inch groups @ 300 yrds and smoked coyotes 300+ yrds. Mine also will shoot a 55gr Sierra Blitz-King really well with 35.5gr of Varget, COL 2.540.

Just so you know the 52gr A-Max (Hornady #22492) is designed for a 1 in 14" twist rate, these are acceptable for target and varmint shooting/hunting.

last november broke in my new savage predator in 22-250,tested out first batch of handloads and got 1/2 moa at 100 with a leadsled. sierra 55 gr blitzking,37.5 gr of varget , rem csgs ,win standard rifle primers.velocity was a consistent 3600 fps(22")barrel. only problem is that i shot it in -7 degree weather so when it warms up ill have to be cautious about the pressures and probably test some more. 37.5 is hot loaded a bit,so dont try this at home kids. even though the manuels nowadays are over safe.but varget is the best of the best for tempature variances, but still....
