anyone ever hear of puttin a maggot in your bottom lip to keep it warm im assuming my dad said that he used to do that back in the day and he was serious he even ate one the other day trying to get 5 year old cousin to eat one to

I'll put the little zip-lock bag full of maggots in my pocket to keep them warm,but they aint going near my mouth!

Absolutely. Not only does it keep them warm, the amino acids from your saliva are a real attractant. Eat some garlic before and it even flavours them. Your dad is a wise man.

I do it to gross out kids that I take ice fishing, but my grandpa actually taught me that little trick when I was a kid. Must be a bit of truth to the folklore.

x2, not going in my mouth. If your really craving maggots, go to sweet ideas in lethbridge... you can buy crazy mexican flavoured maggots and all dressed and weird stuff... real maggots too, it looks nasty.

a big part of old ukrainian ice fishing tradition. just like kobasa and pierogi. met a few old bulls that did it, i may have given it a shot once after a few pops.

They make insulated bait puck for this these days BTW.

I had a teacher in high school, Mr.Pecush, that would give us an extra 5 percent bonus on or phys-ed year end class marks if we put a maggot in our lip on the yearly ice fishing trip. I got the extra bonus.

StrikeMaster makes some nice Bait Pucks for maggots!!!
