Hi Everyone, i am brand new to the site. First post so please let me know if i am posting this in the wrong section.
I currently have this posted on Kijiji for $450, but i will lower the price to $400 here. I can ship, but would prefer a local sale in Edmonton. We would also be able to go to my warehouse and set it up so you could see it before you buy it. I posted some random photos of it on kijiji edmonton's site. Just search "ECWS Tent"
Anyway, here is a description of it.
North Face Extreme Cold Whether System Tent (ECWS or ECWT) Military 4 Season Tent
Up for purchase is a North Face ECWS tent. This is one of the best tents ever made and it is military issue. It is the model with the main door, the two side snow tunnel doors, and the opening in the floor for a stove. Apparently cost the US Government $3800.00 when new.
This one has the major repairs completed, just tiny holes remain in the tent and North Face just recommends a drop of Aquaseal for these. This tent easily holds a queen size air mattress, plus room for bags inside, as well as room in the vestibules of the fly for more bags and cooking/kitchen. This tent was designed to be used DAILY by three soldiers and full gear. It is engineered for eighty knot winds, when properly staked and guyed.
This tent comes with a EUREKA woodland camo fly with the black material on the inside of the fly to maintain light discipline. The fly is not made from the lightweight recreation grade materials that Eureka usually uses; they are made slightly heavier in weight, and much more bombproof in feel. The fly can be used by itself with only three of the poles as a standalone shelter. The EUREKA fly is much better than the original North Face Camo Fly that the government got rid of and eventually upgraded their North Face ECWT's with.
The tent has had the following repairs: approximately three quarters of the opening in the floor for a stove has been replaced (original probably melted), approximately one quarter of the front tent door has been replaced, the front door screen has been repaired at least twice, and one of the snow tunnels has two patches. The remaining items to be repaired include approximately 14 holes in the tent about the size of a pencil tip and a couple of holes in the gear loft. As I mentioned before, the tent holes only require Aquaseal and the majority of the waterproofing for this tent is provided by the fly. The outside tent floor has a couple of faded spots. Inside, the waterproofing is not sticking to itself and probably needs a fresh coat of Tent Sure sealant. A weekend project and this thing will be in excellent shape again for another several years of service. Both tent body and fly need a good cleaning. Nikwax Tech Wash will do the trick.
(I have the repair items needed for this tent which will be included free in the sale.)
1 Gear Aid Tent Sure Floor Sealant
1 2oz Tube of Aquaseal Urethane Sealant
1 2oz Gear Aid Seam Sealer
It has the nine, ten-segment, Easton aluminum poles.
Eureka fly has its own stuff sack but the tent body does not.
Comes with 25 Easton Aluminum 12" ECWS tent stakes.
EUREKA! makes these too, they are unavailable to civilians and are only available through Government contracts.
These began selling in Military surplus stores in 2008 and have long since been sold out. Get this while you can. Don't go and waste your money on a $400 or $500 civilian tent that is flimsier and not built as tough as these Military Issue tents.
Here is a link to the specs of this tent.
