Drive right threw fallis as u come off the highway keep heading towards the lake and then turn right and there's a sign on left side saying hamlet of fallis. Then pretty well follow the packed path/ ymmca signage

Better directions... Turn down RR 52. Then turn right down 2nd ave keep going until u reach main street ud come to a yield sign turn left, cross train tracks turn left then ud end up on beach way. And just keep going str8 towards the lake ud be there in no time..

Guy pulls up right next to us and starts fishing in our holes so we left, never seen anyone that brazen out there before. I have a bit of a fuse when it comes to that bull****, so I guess it was just as well that we left.

03-19-2011, 09:13 PM
we were out at wabamun today, ended up being fairly successful. My fish was the big one, 10lbs and 33 inches, till stephane pull his up.
Lotsa fun

alodar
03-19-2011, 09:47 PM
You guys did just fine. drbert you don't NEED that gear but I use ot Cuz its better for using huge bait Hehe I was doing fine with the slightly smaller trebles and singles instead of with the trailers and premade leaders. I've only had 3 snap off but I believe they were monsters. Which is why I went the way I showed u so it wouldn't happen again,I find it works for me that's not saying its the only way that'll work

drbert
03-19-2011, 10:08 PM

Was a slow day for me. managed 7 pike, all were nice though, 34 to 38inch. Missed my 40plus incher. had it swim by twice and nudge my bait, but didn't grab it. Bla. Looked BIG on the camera. Was nice to see a couple of burbot swim by. they looked very healthy, and around 5-7lbs. all in all a good day to get out and get some me time in.

alodar
03-20-2011, 07:58 PM
Good to hear bro I had to leave before it snowed any more or I would not have made it out so much for less than one cm looks my fishing could be done for the season

03-20-2011, 09:23 PM
were you all out there, near that white truck pulling the trailer and slider on top, i was in the dark green taco,4 misses, one snapped line and had only 2 up the hole, 1-7lber, and 1-16ber ohh ya. best part all released healthy waiting to grow up a bit.heee heee

I passed everyone I had to fly out of there to make any progress it snowed something like 5 cm and the wind filled in the trail I made I highly doubt I will be heading out any more unfortunately looks like no 40 incher for me I will probably drive out there on Tuesday if the weathers nice tomorrow and melts some snow there could be some hope yet. Alternatively unless I head out with someone with a 4wd I doubt Ill make it out so on thats note if anyones looking for a fishing partner through the week drop me a pm especially if your in the Edmonton area or near Wabamun I can. Meet up and do my best to trade my "secrets" not that any if it is really a secret I pretty much posted all of my methods openly in this thread I guess I'm just semi lucky and I'm happy to share that as well so hopefully it won't be The end of the hard water season for me

Hi my fishing partner and, I were out at wab yesterday straight off of the Fallis access. We fished on the drop off in about 10 FOW. We did allright and had 10 hits between the both of us. My fishing partner landed a nice sold 10lber that almost chewed through the 120lb braided line leader :scared0015:. PS from now on, I'm always using a wire leader. I also had another pike to the hole that looked like a good solid 10lber that got off when the hook hooked the corner of the hole. I also landed a small 4lber. Half of the bites seemed to 10ish lbers while the other half were hammerhandles. I was using smelts and herring. The the pike seemed to prefer the smelts at the first half of the time I was out there. Then they seemed to switch their preference to herring. I also talked some of the other anglers out there and I saw one of them release this nice sized 16lber.

BTW nice meeting you Alodor. Hope you land that 40lber soon.:sign0111:

Hope to see ya guys out there next weekend.

Just decided to post some pictures of the 8 or 10lber my , my oldman, Aka member (S-wood 456) caught. The pike wasn't a true monster though it was still a dandy sized pike IMO. All of the pike landed, were released very healthy.

Heres a couple we caught on Sunday was a very productive day don't think we went for that 15 min without a bite for about an 1.5-2 hours. A couple times after the tip up was hit and we missed em another would get hit and we would go over to get that on and when we were done dealing with that we would go set the other one up and there was a fish on again was a very good day of fishing for me and the lady!!!!The big one was 17LBS and just over 44" he really didnt want to come out of the water!!! And the one my lady is holdin was 11LBS and 34" long!! Smallest we got all day was 9LBS and we iced about 10!!!

Nice fish. Fish-slaughter. Congrats. BTW where were you guys fishing?

BTW congrats on the 10+lbers as well alodar.

My fishing partner and I probably had 5 8 ish or 10lbers or bigger on our lines throughout the time I we were out there. Two of them got off right away on my fishing partner's perch hook. One of them bit right through my 50lb braided line. PS I wasn't using steel leader at the time because I wanted to be stealthy and have never had a pike cut me off on that line before. Had another one start bending my fishing rod right over and spat the hook. With another one, the hook hooked the corner of the hole and the first one that bit was successfuly landed. PS will have to carefully guide the hook away from the corner of the hole next time.

I remeber when you landed that hammerhandle that was just freshly attacked by a huge pike. I betcha that attacking pike could have easilly been a 40+''.

We were fishing out in front of the town to the right in 10-12FOW using 6-8" smelts. You should try fluorocarbon leaders its a little expensive for a roll but it works great! I have 30LBS test on all my tip ups and 20LBS on my rods. From what I seen on the camera they seem to hum and haw lookin at the steel leader before hitting it if they don't swim away but you cant even see the fluorocarbon and they just swim up and hit it!!!

I have 30LBS test on all my tip ups and 20LBS on my rods. From what I seen on the camera they seem to hum and haw lookin at the steel leader before hitting it if they don't swim away but you cant even see the fluorocarbon and they just swim up and hit it!!!

I've got a spool of 50# yeah Its a little steep but maybe that's my crutch maybe ill make a few with the good stuff and try it out

We were fishing out in front of the town to the right in 10-12FOW using 6-8" smelts. You should try fluorocarbon leaders its a little expensive for a roll but it works great! Thanks for the tips fish-slaughter. I should definitely give the flourocarbon a try. I have been thinking about using flouro for a while too. I almost forgot too that I had some 20lb seagar flouro leader in my tackle box. I have used bait without with just 20 or 50lb braid tied straight to the bait and had too much cutoffs. As soon as I switched to steel leader, the rate of the bites went right down.

BTW I notice that the pike action picks up right in front of the town late in the season because the pike are moving towards the big shallow bays and shelfs to spawn IMO.
