Paces?--I would say it depends on how long your stride is. Or how long your shoe's are.

The better question is why does the title say "400 yards", yet in the OP 100 yards is being asked about?? Lol.

Maybe the poster has been referred to a hot fishing spot that is "100 yards past that rock..." or "100 yards east of the big tree...". I dunno, lol.

400 yards is 365 meters.

I know this off the top of my head because of the shooting restrictions from some sanctuary roads that do not allow the discharge of a firearm within 365m of a designated road. Since guessing meters seems to be difficult for some, 4 football fields is a better estimate for one to make.

If I were to vector it out using quantum equations and accepted mathmatical principles, you're looking at 86.5 paces which means that when you stop at 100 yards, you will likely fall over.(Which seems consistent with the question.)

Of course if I were to implement some controversial frozen light theories and rotational "drift" of the Earth, then the pace count would be closer to 83 which some will argue is completely off and not relevant.
