AIN'T IT THE TRUTH!!?
Joe Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock
(MADE IN JAPAN ) for 6am.
While his coffeepot
(MADE IN CHINA )
was perking, he shaved with his electric razor
(MADE IN HONG KONG ).
He put on a dress shirt
(MADE IN SRI LANKA ),> designer jeans
(MADE IN SINGAPORE )
and tennis shoes
(MADE IN KOREA )
After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet
(MADE IN INDIA )
he sat down with his calculator
(MADE IN MEXICO )
to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch
(MADE IN TAIWAN )
to the radio
(MADE IN INDIA )
he got in his car
(MADE IN GERMANY )
filled it with GAS
(from Saudi Arabia )
and continued his search
for a good paying job. At the end
of yet another discouraging
and fruitless day
checking his Computer
(Made In Malaysia ),
Joe decided to relax for a while. He put on his sandals
(MADE IN BRAZIL )
poured himself a glass of wine
(MADE IN FRANCE )
and turned on his TV
(MADE IN INDONESIA ),
and then wondered
why he can't find
a good paying job
in CANADA

I'm not sure there is much to ponder.

Joe wants cheap stuff and high wages. The company wants lower taxes and less input costs to give Joe his cheaper stuff.

Thank god we can get all that stuff from countries that pay their people extremely low wages, if any of it was made in Canada we wouldn't be able to afford it :) Capitalism at its best, I sure wouldn't want to pay out minimum wage for some schmucks to make me a bunch of sandals, cook wear and watches, wheres the profit in that and who would buy it at twice the cost?

CAPITALISM AND FREE ENTERPRISE. Thats what you get.

It would be interesting to go into CANADIAN TIRE and see if there is anything made in Canada there.

Welcome to the 'Global Economy' ... get used to it!

We don't really have much to complain about here anyway. Canada has one of the best ecomomies in the world right now, and one of the highest employment rates (over 90%).

For what it's worth, both my vehicles were made in Canada, and so was a lot of other stuff I own.

I was looking for an article I read the other day but couldn't find it. On the condensed version 50 years ago North America was an industlrial giant exporting around 70% of the consumer product manufactured in North America. Within 5-10 years we as a continent will be importing around 70% of the consumer product produced in other countries.
