I fished the Bow in Calgary today from2 until 4:30 PM and had a great time. My first was a small brown which is attached below. My second was another small brown that got off before I could net it. I moved to another spot and on my first cast I caught a huge brown trout. It was a beautiful male with amazing coloring. That is the second picture below. I could not take a nice picture because I was using my Blackberry. My camera is broken. The fish was 28 inches long and I am not sure of the weight. It was so strong that it snapped the hook off my Rapala. You can see the hook in its mouth in the picture with no lure attached. I caught another brown and a nice rainbow shortly after that. It was a good day.

Yeah I thought that was strange. It was super colorful but their spawn is supposed to be in the Fall. He was swimming around with lots of other big browns because they were surfacing everywhere.

I used to fish the Bow, but it smells more like a sewer than a river, so I will stick to McGregor.

I am wondering what weight fly outfit you are using .....I have had no success casting spoons or plugs with my 5 weight sage ....

I know there must be a technique I am not aware of.....W101

What happened to him? I thought he only fished Spray.

Nice fish Jacen! How's the clarity of the water right now? Were you hooking up with the all too present Bow toilet paper alge? or is it running a little cleaner now?

my guess... 19"

I just re-read Jacen's original post.
No where in that post does he ask for us to guess the size of the fish; he actually says it's 28". That's good enough for me.

BTW, fantastic brown, Jacen. That tail is huge!!! Well done!

Thanks man. The tail was pretty abnormally large.

either caught in faster water or it took off like the titanic after being hooked

It was caught in a back eddy that was moving fairly slow. The fish struck just as I was taking it out of the water and absolutely hammered the lure. I think that tail is what made it such a strong fighter.
