If you ever hear anyone ask "how can water cause that much damage?"- this video will answer it.
You can't see it coming, and it looks like it will never stop. Powerful video.

Ken,

I think your having experienced a tsunami first hand has had a profound effect on your life and your families lives also. What a wonderful yet scary experience.

It really is amazing what water can do.

Holy Crap, that water comes up fast. I wonder if that ferry type boat was able to stay out. Everything in that video was just wiped out. Best vid yet that I have seen, terrible to watch, must have been hell on earth for those that were there.

Glad I live inland, Don't have to worry about such things. Granted if Yellowstone ever decides to go I'll be one of the first to know!

WOW, thats just crazy. I don't know what that camera person was standing on that made them feel safe but it wiped out everything.....

I'll bet that camera man was ****ting bricks, towards the end. Out in the open ocean, a tsunami is apparently barely noticeable. It's only when it gets close to land, into shallow water, that it develops any height.

Another scary thought, that video was shot 6 miles from the coast

Scary stuff. You know, we bitch about the cold, but in reality we don't have too much enviroment wise to complain about.

I think its best to avoid building in a place where the name for such a destructive phenomenon is in the native tounge:scared0018:

Its no different than New Orleans rebuilding on a flood plain. How about considering a move to higher ground?

Ill take tornadoes and snow and sub arctic temperatures over that any day of the week .

That is some scary, but amazing video footage. Can you imagine the thought of those people on both buildings. That water seemed to keep coming up higher and higher. I am sure at some time they must have been thinking is the building that I am on high enough? Or is it strong enough to withstand the water.

Amazing footage. Thanks Ken.

That's one time "A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work" doesn't ring true. Poor buggers.
