We should all cross our fingers for a slow break--up PLEASE!!!!!

If we get a quick break-up here we could be in for serious flooding--

picture ice jams on all rivers and drainage systems, Picture 4days of 15c and rain. Would be a hell of a mess.

The part that bothers me is people that live in river flats< Dad always set camp twice as high as you think the river could ever get> Ice jams create a hell of a mess and flooding

On the positive side, a quick thaw is just what we need in easterm AB to get enough run-off to add a few inches to lakes and sloughs.

it's going to be a stressful spring for many I think.

stormwater systems are going to be taxed as the frost is so deep. In some of my jobsite excavations, it's over 8' deep in a number of areas. This means little moisture will seep into the ground and will be all surface drainage.

Better get out the sandbags boys.

We still got a lot of snow here in Edmonton. I wonder what Aprils showers will do. Hope we dont get too much of a fast melt.

Accoriding to the 14 dat trend forecast there will be a slow snow melt for the Edmonton area. Here's a link to the forecast.

I'm afraid you are right. My neighbour thinks so too. He's building a boat, says it'll be 40 cubits long.

I drove up North of Lac La Biche and back on Monday/Tuesday, took secondary roads and gravel through Bruderhiem and zig zagged along just to try to get the GPS system lost.

There is a TON of snow in this province, and it's melting fast. Some spots on these backcountry roads had windrows in excess of 10' high. Down through Wetaskawin there's still piles of snow.

From Olds south to Calgary, most of the thin stuff is melted, but still a lot of drifts holding lots of water. Some creeks are pretty full already from what I saw.
