Get an electric cutout, you can install it just after the catalytic converter. Raceland cutout costs about $100..maybe $20-30 to ship it from the states, and another $40 to weld it in place. It sounds MEAN while the cutout is open, but when its closed its no different assuming you keep stock exhaust. No annoying drone on the highway.

I had a 3" flow master cat back exhaust with a 50 series flow master muffler on a dodge dakota with a 318 in it and sounded good. But there was no sneaking up on roosters with driving ditches etc or getting in the back country for hunting without announcing to everyone that you where coming. But it did free up some power in the lower RPM range. I also had a K&N CAI on it. When the CAT plugged I replace it with a Magna Flow high flow CAT. Looking back I should have tricked the sensor and removed the CAT entirely. But the $ was the same.

x2. If I could redo my trucks exhaust, this is what I'd do.

I have a Flowmaster 50 exhaust. Its not too loud at idle or low throttle, but ramps up pretty good.

Personally, I got over my need for noise in elementary school when I quit using cloths pins to attach cardboard to hit the spokes of my bike. ;) LOL

The bad noise is from retards with straight pipes as much as like them driving around flooring it at 2 in the morining i chased on down and gave him wat for the other day now him and all his freinds stopped.

I put a Magnaflow cat back system on my dads 07 chev and it has a really nice sound without being annoying on the highway. It sounds similar to a vette now but it is a 6.0L half ton. Price really wasn't bad either and easy to install.

Well not quite......I have a big block vette with Magna Flows :)

According to reviews, maganaflow exhaust is the best sounding exhaust you can get for pretty much any vehicle.
